The Emerald Riesling varietal is a hybrid grape created at UC Davis in 1936. A cross between Riesling and Muscadelle, Emerald Riesling was made with the intention of creating a grape with the cool-climate characteristics of Riesling and the warm-climate tolerance Muscadelle.
